Level 1 & 2 Sports Leaders
Over the course of the academic year we have been delivering Sports Leadership qualifications to our secondary schools and special needs schools: The Newbridge Schoo9l, The Castle Rock School, Ashby School, Ibstock School, Ivanhoe and Forest Way.
Once again we have seen a fantastic number of students achieving either their Level 1 Qualification in Sports Leadership or their Level 2 in Community Sports Leadership. A total of 60 girls and 47 boys achieved their qualification, well done to all of those students.
Throughout the course the students have had a chance to develop their leadership skills through a mixture of written and practical tasks. This ranges from learning about the 5 key leadership skills through to planning and delivering their own sporting sessions and even event planning. The course aims to develop key skills that are transferable to all areas of life including teamwork, communication, self-belief, self-management and problem solving.
Whilst completing their qualifications all students have had a chance to help out at a variety of different events for our Primary Schools. These events range from multisport festivals and boccia to cricket and orienteering with everything in between. In total there have been over 425 total leadership opportunities with a combined total of over 1300 leadership opportunities.
Without the help from our sports leaders these events would simply struggle to run. So we pass on a big thank you to the leaders for giving up their time to help facilitate the running of these events. We always receive fantastic feedback regarding our young leaders and this reflects the hard work that they’ve put in over the year. They should all be very proud of themselves.
Lastly we would like to thank Principle Financial Services for sponsoring both our primary and secondary leadership programmes. Without their support we would not be able to offer such a successful leadership programme.
