The NWL Local Sport Alliance Sport and Health Awards took place on 15th November and we were lucky enough to have journalists and photographers from Ibstock Junior School attending to report on the evening. Here is what they found…

Journalists from Ibstock Junior School were invited to a special awards ceremony, to write an article for North West Leicestershire SSP. Here we interviewed a famous swimmer named Harriet West and watched the awards being given.

The chairman for the Local Sports Alliance, Shane Fox, came up on the stage and explained what has happened in the last year. He talked about the competitions and about how we need to keep healthy and how to fix health issues.

Next, they told the audience who had won the junior volunteer award and it went to Leoni Fielding who had been extremely committed to her volunteering at Colville Town Football Club and throughout all the time of being there she never missed a single lesson – this just shows her commitment. Disabled sports person of the year went to Freddy Bradley who had won titles for U15’s 100m, 200m and shot put events at the Leicestershire and Rutland Athletics Championships.
