NWLSSP Background

The North West Leicestershire School Sports Partnership (NWLSSP) was formed in 2005 as part of the Government’s plan to create 450 SSPs across England.  King Edward VII Science & Sports College in Coalville has been our host from the very beginning and continues to be the base for all of the NWLSSP team today.

The NWLSSP currently has 43 member schools of which 36 are Primary Schools, six Secondary Schools and one is a Special School.  All of the schools buy into the NWLSSP on an annual basis in return for various services that you can find out about here.

The NWLSSP works with and on behalf of its member schools to develop high quality PE, school sport and physical activity for all pupils within its schools.  We work with and are supported by a number of national, regional and local partners to achieve this.  More information about are partners can be found here.

In 2017/18 the NWLSSP saw:

  • Over 6,750 attendances at our competitions
  • Over 44,000 attendances at sessions delivered by our coaches and staff
  • Held over 100 inter-school competitions and events in 25 sports
  • Supported 35 schools to achieve School Games Mark (1 Platinum, 16 Gold, 16 Silver and 2 Bronze).
